Joyce Gibson Roach, teacher, folklorist, author, was born in Cleburne, Texas in 1935. She grew up in Jacksboro, graduating from Jacksboro High School in 1954. Roach holds bachelors and masters degrees from Texas Christian University and did post-graduate work at the University of North Texas. Roach taught in Fort Worth and Keller ISDs, and has been an adjunct faculty member at TCU. Biographical note: Historian and author; Sonnichsen was a professor of history at the University of Texas at El Paso for over forty years. He wrote or edited 34 books and numerous articles during his career including "Colonel Greene and the Copper Skyrocker" in 1974, and "Tucson the Life and Times of An American City," in 1987.
